Does this make me a terrible writer?

I'm attempting to be a writer too, but I don't see what the big problem is about showing off your work before it's done. Personally, I think it's better to show your work off because you get feedback and it makes your story better. But if you don't like doing that, then just talk to your friends. Maybe write a short story that they can read so they are convinced you are great, and tell them there is more to come. They just need to be patient.
