I got a cut on my foot on a rock under some water and it went numb. I didnt feel the cut just the blood.?

what risks do I have since it went numb? it was sortof a small area of standing water that i was trying to train my dog to swim.. it was no cleaner than a lake really so I thought it was harmless.
