Do we really have to eat so much each day?

I bet my digestive system is overloaded working every day trying to digest meals. I know that if I slow my eating down my metabolism slows down as well. However, I also sympathize with my digestive system. It needs a break once in a while. It still probably has food in there that hasn't been broken down about 7 days ago. To put the long story short....I'm going to slow down on my eating and workout harder...that's another way to get to those stubborn fat stores and clean out that liver of lipids in my fat cells. What do you think?
