Where are my missing Hotmail emails?

I sent several emails back and forth to ebay customer support and all of them are just gone I am using a hotmail email account I read a title of a article a few weeks ago that said the mystery of the missing emails from hotmail accounts I thought nothing of it because it had not affected me yet but now it has and i sortof need to ask the person i was talking to back and forth so is there anything I can do nobody could of hacked into my account becos i only ever use my laptop to login so i really don't understand
